Refund and withdrawal policy

This policy explains your refund and withdrawal rights for EG Tone, instant-download digital software sold internationally through Polar as Merchant of Record.

Effective date2026.06.02
Sales modelInternational digital sales · Merchant of Record (Polar)

1. Scope and who you are buying from

This policy covers EG Tone, an instant-download desktop audio plugin (VST3, AU, and Standalone for macOS and Windows) sold as a one-time, perpetual license. The software is licensed to you by EG Tone (이지톤), the developer, under our End User License Agreement; system requirements and product details are shown before purchase and on the download page.

For your purchase, Polar Software, Inc. acts as the Merchant of Record and authorized reseller. Polar charges your payment method, calculates and remits any applicable taxes (VAT/GST/sales tax), issues your invoice and receipt, and administers refunds. For product, installation, or licensing issues, contact EG Tone support first; an eligible refund is then processed by Polar to your original payment method.

2. Your 14-day right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you have a statutory right to cancel (withdraw from) this purchase within 14 days without giving any reason. For digital content not supplied on a physical medium, the 14-day period runs from the day the contract is concluded.

  • This right applies so long as digital supply has not yet begun — that is, before any download, license issuance, or activation has started.
  • To cancel within this period, contact EG Tone support with your order reference; the refund is then arranged through Polar.
  • Consumers outside the EU/UK may not have a statutory cooling-off period, but may still request a refund in the situations described below.

3. Immediate access and waiver of the withdrawal right

At checkout you are asked to expressly consent to immediate access to EG Tone and to acknowledge that, once the download or license begins, you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal. Once you give this consent and supply begins, the cooling-off right no longer applies (EU Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(m); UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, reg. 37). Supply is treated as started when any of the following begins:

  • the installer or software download begins;
  • a license or access right begins to be issued to your account;
  • device activation or actual use of the software begins.

4. Installation environment and security notices

Windows security confirmations, security software checks, workplace or school PC policies, and DAW scanning behavior can change the installation steps. If installation or launch is still impossible after following the official guide, support will review the environment and consider a refund or alternative remedy.

  • Users should confirm that the file was downloaded from the official EG Tone website before installing.
  • If the Windows installer is difficult to use, a support ZIP or manual installation guidance may be tried first.
  • Manual installation may require the guided VST3 path and administrator permission, and the plug-in may not appear if copied to the wrong location.
  • If installation or launch problems are not resolved within a reasonable support period, EG Tone will review refund or alternative remedy options.

5. After you consent to immediate access

Once you have consented to immediate access and supply has begun, a simple change-of-mind refund is no longer guaranteed, because you have validly waived the 14-day withdrawal right.

This is not a blanket no-refund rule. Your statutory rights remain in full: if the software is faulty, not as described, or not fit for a purpose you made known to us before purchase, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of the waiver (see the next section). Duplicate or unauthorized payments and clear payment-processing problems are always reviewed.

6. Statutory quality rights and other situations where a remedy applies

  • EU/UK consumers: the software must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to repair or replacement, and where that is impossible or unsuccessful, to a price reduction up to a full refund (UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 ss. 34–36 and 42–44; EU Digital Content Directive 2019/770). These quality rights cannot be waived or excluded.
  • The installer cannot be downloaded or run normally and the issue is not resolved within a reasonable support period.
  • Account linking, activation, or access refresh fails in a way that makes actual use materially impossible.
  • The product differs materially from the disclosed description, supported formats, or other core representations.
  • There is a duplicate payment, an unauthorized payment, or a clear payment-processing problem.
  • Applicable mandatory local law gives you a broader refund, cancellation, or defect remedy.

7. How refunds are issued

  • Approved refunds are issued by Polar (the Merchant of Record) back to your original payment method.
  • For statutory faulty-content refunds (EU/UK), the refund is made without undue delay and within 14 days of our agreeing that you are entitled to it, to the original payment method and with no fee.
  • The actual posting date may vary with your card issuer, payment provider, or currency conversion.
  • When reviewing a request we may ask for your order reference, payment time, usage environment, and issue details.

8. What happens to access after a refund

If a refund or cancellation is finalized, the related download right and entitlement may be revoked, and the buyer state in the account area may also be removed.

However, if a device is offline, previously issued offline access may not be revoked instantly and may phase out within up to 24 hours before the next network revalidation. If free web companion services must later be closed, EG Tone will separately consider reasonable alternatives for core purchased software use.

9. Regional consumer rights

Your local consumer law may grant stronger or additional rights, and those mandatory rights prevail within their scope.

  • EU and UK: a 14-day right of withdrawal (unless validly waived for immediate download) plus non-excludable digital-content quality rights.
  • United States: no statutory cooling-off period for instant digital downloads; refunds follow this policy and card-network rules.
  • Other regions (for example Japan, Canada, Australia): any stronger mandatory local remedy applies; otherwise this policy governs. Before purchase, review the supported OS and formats, payment currency, tax shown at checkout, and that this is a one-time perpetual license delivered as an instant download.
